Umaa and Nerissa are BIPOC Masters trained in the Black empathic approach to therapy by Dr Isha Mckenzie-Mavinga Venue ![]() Psychotherapists, Counsellors, Psychologists, holistic therapists, psychiatrists and individuals involved in the mental health field, caring professions and those concerned about black mental health. PARTICIPANTS ARE EXPECTED TO ATTEND BOTH DAYS. We support the specific requirements of the differently-abled. Participants will be supported to develop safety for making the therapeutic space safe enough for a dialogue about racism. It will enhance Therapists’ and professionals’ insight and practice when working with the impact of racism in training, CPD and professional support. The workshop run from Friday 10th February to Saturday 11th February. ![]() Workshops are presented by Masters trained by Dr Isha Mckenzie-Mavinga. Full attendance and participation essential. Participants will be offered an opportunity to discuss and explore an antiracist framework for therapeutic engagement, that offers clarity about white privilege and a black empathic approach. Based on concepts from Dr Isha Mckenzie-Mavinga’s books Black Issues in the Therapeutic Process (2009) and The Challenge of Racism in Therapeutic Practice (2016). ![]()
